depends upon what you mean by the word "God."    Questioning the Existence of God is like asking:

Before you can Answer the Question:
"Does God Exist?"

.

You must first tell us
what do you mean when you say "God?"

Are you referring to a fickle, angry, vengeful, needy, mass-murdering super-human being who tortured and killed his son as an expression of love and who lives in the sky above the Earth?

Are you referring to that mysterious Universal Consciousness which appears to be the source of everything?

.

.

.

.

A Few More Questions

.

What's real and what isn't?    How do you know the difference?

Can you tell the difference between reality and a belief bout reality?

Who and/or what is a human being

Where did we come from?    Why are we here?

What happens to us when our body dies?

Is heaven a place or a state of  being?

Were you created by God at conception or birth?

Are you an eternal being who always was  and always will be?

Is God a superhuman being who lives in the sky?

Is God a Consciousness that transcends human understanding?

.

.

.

.

Before you can offer any meaningful
answers for the above questions, or have
a reasonably intelligent discussion about them,

.

You need to define what you mean when you say,  "God"

Here's an example:   The dictionary define "atheist" a   person  who does not believe in the existence of God.   Without a clear definition of what one means by the word "God," such a definition is worse than meaningless.   It not only confuses the issue, it falsifies the definition because it lets each reader supply his or her own personal meaning for the word "God"

Suppose, for example, you were were having a discussion about dogs or trees or fish, or birds.   In order to have a meaningful discussion, you'd probably want to know more details about the what kind of dogs, trees, et cetera you were talking about.  So it is with God.   There are thousands of perspectives on who and what and where God is.    When you say the word, "God," what are you talking about?

.

Here Are Three Perspectives on God

.

.

(1)   God -- As a Super Human Being.

.

Webster's dictionary gives the following definitions for the word, "God."

1.   Any of the various beings conceived of as supernatural, immortal and having special powers over the lives and affairs of people and the course of nature; deity, esp. a male deity.

2.     An image that is worshipped; idol.

3.     A person or thing deified or excessively honored and admired.

In mono-theistic religions , the creator and ruler of the universe, regarded as eternal, infinite, all powerful, and all knowing; Supreme Being, Almighty.

  .

.

This approach to God is  common to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.   God is considered to exist in an anthropomorphic form --  as a super human being.   The famous picture by  Michelangelo   "The Hand of God,"  illustrates this commonly-accepted perspective of God.

However, when one does even a cursory examination of the attributes, characteristics, and behavior attributed to this superhuman being, the validity of such a belief is called into serious question.

.

.False Face God     .The False Face of God           ...

(2)   The False face of God

.

Before I can answer your question, "Do you believe in God?", I need to know what you mean when you say the word, "God."

Are you talking about a fickle, angry, jealous, easily displeased, wrathful,  vindictive, vengeful, super-human being sitting on a throne somewhere overhead in the sky?   Are you talking about a god who  (for reasons that completely escape human understanding and with what seems like arbitrary unpredictability)  heaps great good fortune onto some, horrendous misery onto others, and pretty much ignores everyone else?

Are you talking about a god who, at his whim and can, will, and if the Christian Bible is correct, has a history of:

pink shinny bullet    stepping outside the laws of the universe and doing anything he chooses,  including acts of magic,

pink shinny bullet    granting special favors to those who bribe him with prayers and adoration, or

pink shinny bullet    destroying someone's life in a momentary fit of anger?

Are you talking about a god with an ego so great that  he demands our worship and a self-image so small that he demands our obedience -- a god so weak that he needs our help to punish the unfaithful -- a god so weird  that he murdered his own son as an expression of love   -- a god so angry, hypocritical, and unforgiving that he preaches forgiveness and, at the same time, is still punishing people today because a long- dead ancestor (Eve) ate "fruit" from a forbidden tree --  a god so ridiculous that he abandons and condemns to never-never land literally billions of humans simply because they never got sprinkled with or immersed in water by the correct holly man?

Are you talking about a needy, self-centered, brooding god who offers free will and then demands obedience to a set confusing and self-conflicting rules that are impossible to comply with?   Are you talking about a masculine god who created women as sex slaves and servants --  a god so small he can fit inside of a single religion or into a single sacred text -- a god who demands that we murder people  simply because they believe in a different religion?    Are you talking about The Great God Money,   the most revered deity on the planet today?

If that's your definition of God, then the answer is no.   I don't believe anything which fits the above description could possibly be God.   I'd sooner believe that the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny were living in my attic and having an affair with Miss America.

For a more complete description of "The False Face of God,"
please see the section titled:  "Imagine a God Like This.

.

.

.

.Faceless Face God             The Faceless Face of God

3)   The Faceless Face of God

.

When you ask, "Do you believe in God?" are you are talking about the source of all creation -- a source and a consciousness that transcends human understanding?   Are you talking about the sum total of all that is --  the ever-flowing essence of everything --  the central cause of all creation,  from the minutest to the greatest -- the source of everything we are and everything we experience?

Are you talking about "An Infinite Source"  who/which/that  neither rewards nor punishes -- a God that has created a set of invisible laws  --  laws that are as immutable as the law of gravity, laws that we each can intentionally use to create our own personal experiences (or ignore at our own peril)?

Are you talking about a "God" that is unknown and unknowable -- a God that expresses itself in a mysterious form of consciousness-- a "God" that expresses itself as freedom, love, joy, and beauty -- a god that manifests itself as the sum total of everything we are aware of in what we call the physical universe?

Are you talking about a "God" that manifests itself in each of us as whatever we choose by our thoughts, beliefs, emotions, words, and actions   --  a God that allows us complete freedom to unconsciously create pain and misery or to consciously create love, joy, and beauty in what we call the physical world?

Are you talking about a God that we are each an intimate part of --  a God which is that mysterious part of ourselves we refer to when we say "I' of "me,"

If that's your definition of God, then the answer is "DEFINITELY YES,  I DO BELIEVE IN GOD!"

.

.

.

.

. . . and a little common sense

.

Perhaps the real question is not about in what form the source of creation is or isn't.   Perhaps the real questions are:

pink shinny bullet      Is the consciousness we refer to as "I" or "me"
a function of the physical body,    or

pink shinny bullet     Is the physical body a function of consciousness?

pink shinny bullet     Are you inside and part of God or
are you outside and separate from God?

Christian Theology has a 2,000-year-old track record of telling its followers that God is a fickle, angry, jealous, vengeful, intolerant, displeased, needy, and violent super-human being sitting on a cloud somewhere in the sky above planet Earth.

Such a perspective is, at best, an archaic and dysfunctional perspective of the source of the universe and everything in it.   It doesn't take an atheist to reject that perspective.   All it takes is:

pink shinny bullet     A willingness to look the physical evidence  -- Readers are directed to:  "What the Bleep Do We Know"   and "Down the Rabbit Hole."  ***

pink shinny bullet   A willingness to question   the stories you accepted as real when you were a defenseless little child,  and

pink shinny bullet     A little common sense.

Regardless of what we believe or want to believe, the Universe has a source, a cause of of its creation.   Our ancient, superstitious ancestors did not give us the correct answers to the dozens of questions that so many people no longer ask.

.

.

.

Atheism  Re-defined

.

Atheism -- What it Isn't:   Many of those who say they are atheists have not thoroughly analyzed  the issue  other than to say that they reject the traditional, Christian definition of a weird, bizarre superhuman being separate from His creation (described above as The False Face of God).    Simply rejecting such a definition of God is not atheism.

Real atheism is based upon a belief that consciousness is a function of the physical body and that one's consciousness dies with the death of the body.   Such a belief does not standup when  tested against the evidence.

Science can find no evidence whatsoever that indicates that consciousness is in any way a part of the human, physical structure.   Millions of people have had personal experience that have taken them outside their bodies.   Over the centuries, hundreds of thousands of people have been able to leave the physical body at will.   Hundreds of thousands of people have been able to see into a realm of reality that is invisible to the rest of us.   Hundreds of thousands of people have been able to hear sounds, and carry on intelligent conversations with beings in realm of reality that the rest of us do not have access to.   Famous inventors, master musicians and authors, Nobel Prize winning scientists have all brought wonders to us from that part of reality the skeptics say is merely one's imagination.

.

.

.

.

Imagination Is All there Is

.

Skeptics say that all this non-physical stuff  is just a person's imagination.   Well, they're obviously correct, but what the skeptics ignore is the evidence which indicates that physical matter is not real --  that everything is energy -- the energy is controlled by consciousness --  that imagination is the core of consciousness.

One simply cannot use physical evidence to prove or disprove the existence of something that is not physical.   Atheism is simply another religion in which believers  reject the existence of God the same way religious true believers accept the existence of an Anthropomorphic God  --  by a Leap of Faith.

The Bottom  Line:  Regardless of what you or I believe, the Universe has a source.   What that Source is, what nature of  that Source is,  and how He/She/It functions are still  the worlds greatest mysteries.

Here are two quotes from Albert Einstein:

pink shinny bullet   "My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds.   That deeply emotional conviction of the presence of a superior reasoning power, which is revealed in the incomprehensible universe, forms my idea of God."

pink shinny bullet    “Imagination is greater than knowledge.”

A Work in Process

.

Because The Transformation of Human Consciousness requires a physical component in which people can see a tangible result from their efforts, our outreach program is focused on the Preserving of the last of the Ancient, Virgin, Redwood Forests.

This Redwoods Project and its website  http://www.RedwoodForests.info ' are both works  in process.    As the project's creator and director, I have been pleasantly surprised and very pleased by the overwhelmingly positive responses that the project is receiving.   For example, the corporate  financial renovation proposed by The Owner's Trust, ' although new and unusual, has been remarkably  well received by all who have examined it.    Responses such as.  "Why didn't I think of that?"  are common.

You are invited to examine the  Redwoods Project's  website.   Please offer your opinion and add your participation.  Your input will speed up the process, and as you know, the chain saws are still running, so "time is of the essence."

Here's how you can be of service '

Thank you!
